Date night this week involved an authentic Italian restaurant, a deal we could not refuse, and a lot of cocktails! My boyfriend and I chose to dine at the wonderful ‘Al Forno’s’, located on Southfield Road in Middlesbrough. This Italian restaurant is one of their Teesside branches, alongside their sister restaurant in Darlington.
Now, I describe a lot of places as ‘warm’, but I can honestly say that Al Forno’s is one of the most inviting restaurants in Middlesbrough. The red, orange and bare brick décor brings a cosy feel to the room that is encapsulated by low-level lighting. The candle lit tables augment the atmosphere with a wooden feature wall providing character and personality. The overall ambience of this Italian-bistro can only be described as truly welcoming.
The staff were both chatty and charming whilst remaining polite and professional. Nothing we requested was a problem, and the waiters and waitresses ensured we enjoyed all aspects of our evening- without being intrusive.
The menu lists an extensive range of Italian offerings such as pasta dishes and pizzas, extending to a wider variety including seafood, salads and burgers. The food, as always, was faultless; and as we visited on a Thursday we were able to take advantage of Al Forno’s fantastic ‘Steak Night’ deal. This includes two steaks and a bottle of wine from just £30 – it’s only available on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s in their Middlesbrough branch though, so do plan ahead! Getting a great deal became secondary when compared to our meals as they were magnificent. The steak was cooked to perfection, just how we had requested, and the homemade trimmings were all they needed to be and more.
I simply cannot fault Al Forno’s and would absolutely recommend to anybody looking for a well-rounded evening meal. Book your table over at – http://al-forno.co.uk/book!
