How to eat out, without ruining your diet – NOSH Healthy Kitchen

A common problem encountered by many of us wanting to eat out, is how to do so- without ruining our diet plans. It seems to be impossible to find somewhere that offers genuinely healthy (and tasty) food, with an authentic café ambience. Well, ladies and gentlemen… NOSH Healthy Kitchen is here to solve all of your clean living needs and desires.

After launching their first branch in the heart of Middlesbrough, the family run business has gone from strength to strength following recent expansions into near-by areas Stockton and Durham. The kitchen provides you with an up-market fast food experience, without the thousands of calories that we usually anticipate.

Inside this wonderful little place you can expect an urban vibe, incorporating rustic, wooden tables and chairs, with funky little lights draping the ceilings. Flowers and plants are delicately placed upon the walls and on the tables, bringing to life a fresh and welcoming atmosphere. In the background, you can hear an indie classics CD humming away, just about masking the sounds coming from the open kitchen pass.

You’re always met with beaming smiles from the lovely front of house staff, who take your name after ordering your meal. Your food is then personally delivered to your table, finished with a little reminder to ‘enjoy your food’. After you’ve paid NOSH a visit once or twice, the staff will start to remember your name… which I think is a really nice touch!

The food then comes served in an edgy, little brown box that adds to the fresh and trendy vibe of the business… and yes, believe it or not, everything on their menu is in fact healthy. The range of ‘main course meals’ on offer does seem slightly limited, however you can mix and match with healthy sides and yummy extras. What I find really unique about NOSH’s menu is that there is something on there for EVERYONE; they cater for both vegetarians and vegans, which is quite rare to find under one roof. They’ve even put their own twist on the Teesside classic ‘parmo’, labelling it the “skinny parmo” and teaming it with healthy sides instead of our much loved chips and garlic sauce.

Although a little pricey in comparison to your average £3 meal deal, it’s worth remembering that NOSH compete on their high quality ingredients and healthy, tasty recipes. For those students reading this, I’ll mention now that they do kindly offer student discount in the shape of a ‘student meal deal’… so don’t forget to show your student card to save a few extra pennies!

So, instead of settling for your cold, unappetising limp-lettuce salad… wriggle yourself down to NOSH and indulge in some of their fresh, whole-hearted, healthy boxes of deliciousness. OR, if you really can’t be bothered to leave the house… you can even get your food delivered straight to your door, via takeaway!
